settlements
A permanent collection of buildings where people reside, work, and obtain services. Occupy approximately 1% of Earth's surface.
producer services
Provides services primarily to help people conduct other business or enhance productivity. For example: examples are accountants, lawyers and cleaners, manufacturers etc.
retail services
Service that provides goods to sell to consumers. One fifth of the jobs in the United States that provide goods for sale to consumer. One fifth of the jobs are in wholesale, one third in restaurants or food stores, and the rest in shops selling goods. Most of the recent growth in this sector is through the growth of restuarants.
public services
Services offered by the government to provide security and protection for citizens and businesses. Only about 4%-10% of US population. Example- Teachers, national park worker.
business services
Services that primarily meet the needs of other businesses, including professional, financial, and transportation services
personal services
Services that provide for the well-being and personal improvement of individual consumers. Example: Gym membership, health and education related fields.
