What are the seven seas?

Red Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf, Black Sea, Adriatic Sea, Caspian Sea, Indian Ocean

How does a theory reach to a truth?

Science never really reaches a point of truth. Sometimes old ways are abandoned when a new hypothesis comes out so nothing has really reached the truth.

What is the depth of the ocean?

3729 meters

__% of Earth's surface is covered by ocean

71%

The ocean contains__ % of Earths water

97%

What is a hypothesis?

An educated guess but along with that it is a testable statement about nature and the phenomena that happens or why it happens.

How do you test a hypothesis?

Analyzing something that you want to write a hypothesis about. It confirms a hypothesis if it is correct or wrong.

Which ocean separates Europe and Asia from the New world?

Atlantic Ocean-2nd largest ocean

Who went on voyages between 1768 and 1779 to the Pacific Ocean and Australia.

Captain James Cook

What is the crust?

Crust is known as the thin skin. It's low-density rock with silicate materials.

What is a theory?

If a hypothesis is successful in predicting phenomena it can be advanced to a theory which also means a looking at. It's a good explanation of the natural world that can include facts, laws, and behavior of nature. They are really only formalized after years of looking at.

what are the inner and outer core?

Is made up of liquid in the outer core so it is able to flow. The inner core however is rigid and does not flow.

What is the mantle?

It has the largest amount of volume. It is high-density iron and magnesium silicate rock.

What is the core?

Located right below the mantle. Is made up of even more high density material which is mostly iron and nickel.

What's the asthenosphere?

Made up of plastic. When a gradual force is applied it will flow. It is also hot enough to melt portions of rock.

What are observations?

Observations are occurrences that we measure with our senses. Some examples are things that we can manipulate, see, feel, or touch, and smell. If you confirm an observation multiple times it can be called a scientific fact.

What's difference between oceanic vs continental crust?

Oceanic crust is under the ocean basins and is made up of igneous rock called basalt which is dark and has a high density. Continental crust is mostly lower density and has lightly colored rock known as granite.

How was the atmsophere created?

Originally the atmosphere just had leftover gases from nebula nuts that were blown out. After gas from inside earth was explored by outgassing. Eventually all those gasses rose to the surface and created the earth's atmosphere

Who went out to explore the oceans first?

Pacific Navigators traveled thousands of miles in small vessels.

Which ocean is the largest and deepest?

Pacific Ocean-covers 1/3 of the Earth

Which ocean is smaller than the Atlantic and is in the southern hemisphere?

The Indian Ocean

What is the lithosphere?

The Outer layer is very brittle so when pressure is applied to the rock it can break.

Which ocean has portions of the pacific, atlantic, and indian oceans

The southern or antarctic ocean

Who explored the ocean in the middle ages?

The vikings

What is isostatic adjustment?

This is the vertical movement of the crust. This is also the result of buoyancy of the earth's lithosphere.

What is the mesosphere?

Very rigid due to the built up pressure at these depths.

How were oceans created?

When the earth was cooled the water vapor that was released from that was condensed and fell to earth. We think that it has accumulated to create the oceans that we have now.
