Francisco arcellana

Filipino writer, poet, essayist, critic, journalist and teacher. A National Artist for Literature (1990), he is considered an important progenitor of the modern Filipino short story in English. He pioneered the development of the short story as a lyrical prose-poetic form within Filipino literature. Arcellana's published books include: Selected Stories (1962) Poetry and Politics: The State of Original Writing in English in the Philippines Today (1977) The Francisco Arcellana Sampler (1990).

Ramon Valera

- Valera is said to have given the country its visual icon to the world via the terno. In the early 40s, Valera produced a single piece of clothing from a four-piece ensemble consisting of a blouse, skirt, overskirt, and long scarf. He unified the components of the baro't saya into a single dress.

Leandro V. Locsin

A Filipino architect, artist, and interior designer known for his use of concrete, floating volume and simplistic design in his various projects. Proclaimed a National Artist of the Philippines for Architecture in 1990 by the late President Corazon C. Aquino.

Levi Celerio

A Filipino composer and lyricist, he was a prolific songwriter, with over 4,000 songs to his credit. He is perhaps best known for being a leaf-player, a feat for which he was put into the Guinness Book of World Records. In 1997, he was named National Artist of the Philippines for Music. His more popular love songs include: Saan Ka Man Naroroon, Kahit Konting Pagtingin, Gaano Ko Ikaw Kamahal, Kapag Puso'y Sinugatan, and many more, while his folk songs include Ang Pipit, Tinikling, Tunay na Tunay, Itik-Itik,Waray-Waray, Pitong Gatang, Alibangbang, Basta't Mahal Kita, and many more. He also wrote nationalistic songs such as Ang Bagong Lipunan, Lupang Pangarap, and Tinig ng Bayan.

Francisca Reyes Aquino

A Filipino folk dancer and academic noted for her research on Philippine folk dance. She is a recipient of the Republic Award of Merit and the Ramon Magsaysay Award, and is also a designated National Artist of the Philippines for Dance (1972). Reyes-Aquino also had other books published including: Philippine National Dances (1946), Fundamental Dance Steps and Music (1948), Foreign Folk Dances (1949), Dances for all Occasion (1950), Playground Demonstration (1951), and Philippine Folk Dances, Volumes I to VI.

Honorota "atang" De la Rama

She was a singer and bodabil performer who became the first Filipina film actress. she was already starring in Spanish zarzuelas such as Mascota, Sueño de un Vals, and Marina. At the age of 15, she starred in the sarsuela Dalagang Bukid, where she became known for singing the song, Nabasag na Banga. She became a National Artist for Theater and Music in 1987
