Hybrid learning

Another name for blended learning.

Online learning

A form of education which is delivered and administered using the internet.

Flex Model

Online learning is the backbone of learning, but students have opportunities for face-to-face learning. Students move on a personal and fluid schedule according to their needs.

Traditional Instruction

A method of instruction that is teacher-centred, rather than learner-centred, in which the focus is on rote learning and memorisation.

A La Carte Model

Combines face-to-face instruction with an elective online course chosen by the learner according to their interests or needs.

Individual Rotation

Course in which each student has an individualized playlist and does not necessarily rotate to each available station. An algorithm or teacher(s) sets individual student schedules.

Station Rotation

Course in which students experience the rotation pattern in a class or group of classrooms.

Rotation model

Course in which students rotate on a fixed schedule or at the teacher's discretion between learning modalities, at least one of which is online learning.

Lab Rotation

Course in which students rotate to a computer lab for the online-learning station.

Synchronous learning

Learning that takes place at the same time, with teacher and students together.

Enhanced Virtual Model

Most courses are online at home or outside of school. But students can attend school to participate in the required face-to-face learning sessions with a teacher

Learning management system (LMS)

Platform for the administration, documentation, delivery, tracking, and reporting of online learning activities.

Face-to-face

Teachers and the students are in a same place and the teaching and learning take place at the same time.

Asynchronous learning

Teaching method that uses online resources. In this way, students and teachers do not have to be in the same place at the same time.

Flipped classroom

Teaching model where students view content at home, then do problems/discuss in class.

Blended learning

The combination of both face-to-face learning and online learning.

Brick and Mortar school

Traditional places of education.
