Digital to Analog Converters (ADC)
Digital Signal
A physical signal that is a representation of a sequence of discrete values.
ADC
Analog to digital converter.
Sampling
Capturing the magnitude of a signal at equal intervals.
DAC
Digital to analog converter
Quantization Error
How far off discrete value is from actual
Resolution
Number of discrete values that represent a range of analog values
Discretized/Digitized
Representing the magnitude by a number having a finite number of digits
Analog Signal
Signal which has a magnitude that can take on any value
Explain how the length of the sampling sequence affects the final frequency result? What if a shorter sampling sequence is used, what may happen to final results?
The length of the sampling sequence affects the resolution of the final frequency result. By using a shorter sampling sequence, you can get results faster, but they will not be as accurate as using a larger sequence, so the final result could be off by a large amount. Increasing the sampling sequence results in more time needed before a FFT can be done, as more data has to be collected before a calculation is done
