Infrared Waves

(of electromagnetic radiation) having a wavelength just greater than that of the red end of the visible light spectrum but less than that of microwaves. Infrared radiation has a wavelength from about 800 nm to 1 mm, and is emitted particularly by heated objects.

Electromagnetic Spectrum

Generally, electromagnetic radiation is classified by wavelength into radio wave, microwave, terahertz (or sub-millimeter) radiation, infrared, the visible region that is perceived as light, ultraviolet, X-rays and gamma rays. The behavior of EM radiation depends on its wavelength.

Visible Waves

This "visible light" corresponds to a wavelength range of 400 - 700 nanometers (nm) and a color range of violet through red. The human eye is not capable of "seeing" radiation with wavelengths outside the visible spectrum.

Ultraviolet Waves

Ultraviolet (UV) light has shorter wavelengths than visible light. Although UV waves are invisible to the human eye, some insects, such as bumblebees, can see them.

X-ray Waves

X-rays are electromagnetic waves with wavelengths in the range of 0.01 to 10 nanometers, corresponding to frequencies in the range 30 petahertz to 30 exahertz (3×10 16 Hz to 3×10 19 Hz) and energies in the range 100 eV to 100 keV . They are shorter in wavelength than UV rays and longer than gamma rays.

Radio Waves

an electromagnetic wave of a frequency between about 104 and 1011 or 1012 Hz, as used for long-distance communication.

Microwaves

an electromagnetic wave with a wavelength in the range 0.001-0.3 m, shorter than that of a normal radio wave but longer than those of infrared radiation. Microwaves are used in radar, in communications, and for heating in microwave ovens and in various industrial processes.

Radio Waves

are the ones that help us communicate in different ways.

Gamma-Ray

can be used for cancer treatment.

Gamma Rays

gamma ray in Science. gamma ray. A stream of high-energy electromagnetic radiation given off by an atomic nucleus undergoing radioactive decay. Because the wavelengths of gamma rays are shorter than those of x-rays, gamma rays have greater energy and penetrating power than x-rays.

Radio

has longest waves

Infrared

it has safe heat

Micro

measured in centimeters

Visible

only electromagnetic waves we can see

Ultraviolet

protect us from the sunburns.

Infrared

short thermal waves are used in remote controls.

X-ray

small and high energy

Infrared

thermal long waves

X-ray

they can also hurt us, so doctors do what they can not to use them.

Ultraviolet

used in Doppler weather systems
