Electronic components
Capacitor
A capacitor is a passive two-terminal electrical component used to temporarily store energy in an electric field. Size of a capacitor is measured in micro farads (uf).
ground
A common return path for electric current. Can also be referred to as negative side of a battery or power source in electronics.
variable resistor
A device used to vary (change) resistance in a circuit.
LED
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source.
photo resistor
A photoresistor or light dependent resistor (LDR) is a resistor whose resistance changes with changes in light
resistor
A resistor is a device designed to add resistance to a circuit. It's purpose is to slow the flow of electrical current
Schematic symbol
A schematic symbol is a pictogram used to represent various electrical and electronic devices (such as wires, batteries, resistors, and transistors) in a schematic diagram of an electrical or electronic circuit.
Integrated Circuit
An Integrated chip (IC) is an entire electronic circuit with diodes, transistors wires etc... built into a small piece of silicon. Integrated chips can be used for many different applications depending on the chip.
switches
In electronics, a switch is an electrical component that can break an electrical circuit, interrupting the current or diverting it from one conductor to another.
Diode
a type of two terminal electronic component with a non-linear current - voltage characteristic. The most common function of a diode is to allow an electric current pass in one, while blocking current in the opposite direction
Polarized capacitor
has a positive and negative end
Battery
one or more electrochemical cells that convert stored chemical energy into electrical energy; long = positive; short = negative
