A topic sentences tell the reader what its the paragraph about. No idea outside of the topic sentence idea should be in the paragraph, and it can't repeat what other body paragraph are about.

What information and types of sentences have to be in the CONCLUSION paragraph of an essay?
It has a topic sentence (related to the essay's one big idea). Then, detail sentences summarize the main points of the essay (with no new ideas). Finaly, there's a conclusion sentence that gives your final thought, usually an opinion or observation you have, and it must relate back to the hook or thesis statment idea.
Define a THESIS STATEMENT. (its the most important sentence in the whole essay).
It summarize the introduction information and lets reader know where the essay is going next (comparison, cause-effect, narration, argumentative, etc.). It's the roadmap... the GPS of the essay.

It tells the reader what the broad topic of the essay is along with a particular focus of attention (controlling idea). It always tells you how the information will be presented.

Its job is to summarize the main points (thesis + body paragraph) made in the essay and bring the reader back to the one, main idea of the essay (introduction paragraph). It is not to bring up something new to discuss. it is the last paragraph of an essay.

The background information educates the reader about the topic (contex). It gets the writer and reader in sync with each other about what the topic is and where the writer is coming from (perspective) in the essay.
