Why do we have the Bill of Rights
Federalists wanted the Constitution Anti-Federalists wanted to the Articles of Confederation, but agreed to approve the Constitution if it included a Bill of Rights. They wanted to a document to protect the basic rights of American citizens.

Protect Freedom of Religion, Speech, Petition, Press, and Assembly. Freedom of Speech = ability to talk about and voice your opinion on any matter. Freedom of Religion = ability to practice any religion. Freedom of Petition = the right to present requests to the government without punishment or reprisal. Freedom of Press = The right to publish opinions in print (newspaper, internet, etc) without censorship by the government Freedom of Assembly = the right of people to come together
