Why were citizens of Rome so drawn to Christianity?

Christianity embraced all people: Men and women, enslaved people, the poor and the nobles. Christianity gave hope to the powerless. Christianity appealed to people who were repelled by the extravagance of imperial Rome. Christianity offered a personal relationship with a loving God.
