Ask the health care provider for non-narcotic pain relief medication like an injected NSAID. Request a substance abuse consultation. Request that liver function tests be drawn. Initiate non-pharmacological measures for pain relief. Speak with the client about the large amount of pain medication he requires.

Before answering this question, review the client's health information in the EHR. Listen to the conversation between Jeffrey and the nurse. Identify the actions the nurse should take.
Remove the IV catheter. Place a warm compress on the reddened area. Monitor the site throughout the shift. Elevate the right arm on pillows.
