Excalibur

King Arthur's magical and indestructible sword. It is believed to be given to him by the Lady of the Lake. It was magical because it came with a scabbard that had the power to always protect him from his enemies. When King Arthur is dying he tells his last living knight, Bedivere, to throw it in the lake to give it back to the Lady of the Lake. After the third and final demand, Bedivere finally listens and throws it in. He believed the sword was too sacred and special to throw away.

Knights of the Round Table

a group of about 150 knights started by King Arthur. The table was round to symbolize not one person was greater than the other; equality. The knights followed a strict code of chivalry and were highly respected, but their main goal was to find the Holy Grail. The table was used for the men to gather and talk about the safety of Camelot and the upcoming adventures or quests they were going on.

Lady of the Lake

also known as Vivian. According to legend, she lived in a castle under the lake of Avalon where she raised Lancelot who grew up to become the most treasured knight of King Arthur. She also gave King Arthur his famous sword, Excalibur. Lastly, she killed Merlin by smashing a rock on him.

lady of Shallot

gave Lancelot a new shield to protect his identity in a joust and in return, he wore her colors. He won the joust, but was injured. She helped to nurse him back to health and fell in love with him. He rejected her. She is under a curse: if she looks directly at Camelot, some unknown tragedy will come upon her. So she watches the world through a mirror, and weaves what she sees in a magic web. One day she is tempted to look when she sees Lancelot in the mirror. After she looks she immediately gets in a boat and floats down the river dying. Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote the famous poem about her.

Siege Perilous

is a vacant seat on the round table which was reserved for the one knight who found the Holy Grail. The seat was called "perilous" because if anyone sat here that was not the true finder of the Holy Grail, it would be their death.

The Holy Grail

the chalice that Jesus used to drink from at the Last Supper. Today people still search for it because there is no real evidence of it. It possesses infinite powers of healing and answers a means of transmitting direct knowledge, "A spiritual essence."

Camelot

the legendary city where King Arthur and his knights lived in their incredible castle. It is also the name of this castle. This is where council was established and the Round Table was kept.

Sir Galahad

the son of Elaine and Sir Lancelot. From his birth he was predicted to become the greatest knight of all and was chosen by God to find the Holy Grail. When he is knighted, he sits in the spot reserved for the greatest knight at the round table. After defeating many rival knights he was last allowed to behold the Holy Grail.

Morgan Le Fay

was a popular sorceress in Arthurian legend. She is the half- sister of Arthur and the mother of Mordred.

Merlin

was a wizard, prophet, advisor, tutor, and bard. He discovered his wizardly powers as a comet passed through the sky. He suddenly knew that the King's brother had died. When he told the news to Uther, he was known as a wizard from then on. Merlin raised King Arthur as a little boy and created the Round Table. Later, when Arthur pulled the sword from the stone, he came to him and told him Uther was his father and he was the next king of Britain. His death starts with his deep love with Vivien. He showed her the stone where all of the secret marvels were hidden, and agreed to show her the secret tunnel under the rock. After he lifted the rock, Vivien used all the powers he taught her and pushed the rock down after he was already under it. He was buried alive and died.

Elaine

was humble and had a positive outlook on life. She was the mother of Galahad, who found the Holy Grail, and the lover of Lancelot.

Sir Lancelot

was raised by the Lady of the Lake and became part of the knights of the Round Table when he was very young. In battle he rescued Arthur's wife, Queen Guinevere, from their enemy. He was falling in love with Guinevere, but one night Elaine of Astolat tricked him into thinking she was Guinevere. He had a kid with her and was later kicked out of the town when the people found out about his affair.

Uther Pendragon

was the King of Britain before King Arthur. He is King Arthur's father, and he died in battle.

Queen Guinevere

was the beautiful wife of King Arthur. She is most famous for her love triangle with King Arthur and Sir Lancelot.

Mordred

was the nephew of King Arthur. He fought Arthur in war and seized Queen Guinevere.

King Arthur

was the son of Uther Pendragon, a former King of Britain. According to legend, he was raised by the magician Merlin, and he did not know Uther was his father until he pulled out the sword from the anvil in the churchyard. On the sword was engraved whoever can pull this sword from the stone is the rightful King of Britain. Once he did it it was revealed that he was the son of Uther and Britain's next King. He is famous for his legendary story, starting the knights of the Round Table, and leading his country to victory in war.
