3. Interpret How does the speaker in "My Mother Pieced Quilts" see quilt making as a way to hold a family together? How does this compare to the way Mama holds her family together in "A Raisin in the Sun"? Cite examples from the text to support your answers.

5. Synthesize Write a definition of "family bond" that synthesizes, or puts together, the view and feelings expressed in the three selections.

Family bond is the union that occurs in a family with love and respect but above all patience and consists of leaning on the good and the bad. To know that there is someone who will support you despite your actions, that's what a family bond is.

Write About Literature Comparison Paragraph How are the parents in the three selections similar? Use a Venn Diagram to record your ideas. Then write a paragraph that describes the similarities using specific examples from the three selections.

In the three selections, the parents love their children a lot and look for the family to be united. In "A Raise in the Sun" Mama say "I know what this family needs" "Family, do you know what I just did? I bought a house!" She know what the family needs to be happy and Unit. When Mama sees that Walter was not happy about the new house, she says "Put $3,000 in the bank for Beneatha's tuition. The rest if for you. You decide what to do with it. You're the head of this family now." In "My Father Is a Simple Man" the speaker wants to be at the same step of his father to be united "he walks slower than I so I must slow up." Also the father wants the better for his children "He's sure I'll be healthy so long as I eat more oranges; and tells me the orange has seeds and is so perpetual; and we too will come back like the orange trees. In "My Mother Pieced Quilts" the mother wants the family to be united but this is expressed in a different way than the other selections. "You were the river current carrying the roaring notes forming them into pictures of a little boy reclining a swallow flying you were the caravan master at the reins driving your threaded needle artillery across the mosaic cloth bridges delivering yourself in separate testimonies. oh mother you plunged me sobbing and laughing into our past"

2. Compare Both Mama in "A Raisin in the Sun" and the father in "My Father ls a Simple Man" are providers for their families. What kinds of things do they give to their children?

In the two selections as Mama in "A Raise in the Sun" and Father in "My Father is a Simple Man" both gave love and protection to their children. In "A Raisin in the Sun" Mama gave a house to all the family, to Beneatha she gave money to their studies and for Walter what is left over from the expenses of Mama's check. And in "My Father Is a Simple Man" the father gave the narrator a teaching.

Mama because she wants the best for everyone and when there is a disagreement, she looks for a solution to have an atmosphere of harmony, respect and stability in the family.

The family BONDS are the most important thing that a family can have. This bonds must be conformed about LOYALTY, love, patience, and also respect in all the situations that the INTEGRITY is involved. If someone wants to have an special kind of familiar bonds he or she must need to INVEST time to be with his family so that can reinforce the bonds by making them narrower.

Yes. Would hold a family together in except of their shared interest because it can cause conflict or tension if they are not all agree.
