Fourth State of Matter

A plasma is a hot ionized gas consisting of approximately equal numbers of positively charged ions and negatively charged electrons.

Matter in Space

Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space.

Volume

Measures the size of an object using length measurements in three dimensions.

Motion Of Particles

Particles in a solid are tightly packed and have limited movement. Particles in a solid vibrate; Particles in a liquid are more loosely packed and can flow around each other; Particles in a gas are far apart and can move about freely

Shape

The characteristic surface configuration of a thing; an outline or contour

Phase Changes

The states in which matter can exist: as a solid, liquid, or gas. When temperature changes, matter can undergo a phase change, shifting from one form to another

Liquid

a liquid is one of the states of matter. The particles in a liquid are free to flow, so while a liquid has a definite volume, it does not have a definite shape.

Plasma

a state of matter (in fact the most common state of matter) made from a gas that has lost its electrons from heat.

Solid

state of matter characterized by particles arranged such that their shape and volume are relatively stable. The constituents of a solid tend to be packed together much closer than the particles in a gas or liquid.

Gas

state of matter consisting of particles that have neither a defined volume nor defined shape.
