Canyons

form when erosion changes the face of the Earths surface. The erosion occurs due to water, often rivers, running through a dry region. The rocks in the dry region provide resistance, which causes the canyon to be created. the water removes rock material and transports it to a different location. as this happens, the river digs deeper into the Earths crust, forming a canyon. as the plates of the earth shifts, there is a phenomenon called uplift, which causes the plateau to rise, casing the river to be lower relative to the surface of the plateau.

Metamorphic Rocks

form when pre-existing rock is moved into an environment of intense heat and or pressure. Minerals that make up rock become unstable, often burial. Common metamorphic rock is slate, gneiss, and or marble.

formed when cavities from under the surface of the Earth. these are formed when water filling the space is removed through evaporation or absorption.
