Go to EFFECTS in the Project Panel. Next, Find Parametric Equalizer in the list and click on EDIT. This will open up the effect window. Adjust as needed by clicking on the points and dragging up or down until you get the sound you want out of it. Set Low Cut frequencies on Left Side Under L to 80-100 depending on the voice. Then High at around 6500 and adjust as needed.

How can you quickly reduce noise and reverb?

What is the best way to organize our footage?

Create a new bin and then give it a name such as video. Then, slide our video clips in there. We can also create subfolders, where we can store B-Roll, Interview, etc.

Create an S Curve to increase contrast. Look in Lumetri Scopes and you will see the highlights are higher and the darks are reading darker at a lower number of course.

LOOK. This will give you many options to pick from in the drop down menu. You can also increase or decrease the intensity of the look by adjusting the slider.

What does Saturation do?

Like Exposure, it affects the whole image. In this case, by changing the saturation of everything in the image. But Vibrance, on the other hand, is a smarter Saturation tool because it will do things like maintain the saturation of skin tones, etc which is really important so you subject doesn't look like they have an orange face, etc.

How do we use the White Balance Eyedropper?

Look around and find something in your footage that has no saturation. Something that's white or gray. Not overexposed though. And choose an area to set white balance. This will affect temperature and temp sliders below. You should see the numbers change a little bit. You can also type in numbers next to sliders.

What is a LUT and what does it do?

Lut means look up table and it applies a filter that can be used on the footage we have captured.

How are LUTS and Creative Filters different?

Luts tend to match up with the camera you are using while the Creative Filters are for any type of camera.

Contrast does what?

Makes the darks darker and the whites brighter.

Do we always use LUTS?

No.

Are color correction and grading the same thing?

No. Grading gives the image a more stylistic look. Warming it up or cooling it down is part of this.

You can also select what option with Shortcut G?

Normalize all peaks. What this will do is it will look at the peaks in ALL of the clips and then it will raise each clip individually to be -12 or whatever we set it as. This you would want to use when combining film clips using different cameras in different locations, etc. so all of the audio has the same loudness.

Right click on the tab and choose close panel.

Select all files by clicking and dragging. Then, go up to Sequence tab on the top left of the screen, and choose CLOSE GAP. Good to use in interviews where we are cutting all of the bad answers, etc.

How do we import multiple projects and add assets from one project into another?

Select file. Open recent. This will allow you to bring the other project in as a new file on the timeline area. You can now switch back and forth between that project and the current project. You can highlight, copy, and control v paste where ever you want on the timeline where you want to move files.

How can we copy and paste clips without actually copying and pasting?

Select the clip so it's highlighted, then hold ALT down on the keyboard and drag the copy over on the timeline.

How do we delete the leftovers from the clips we no longer want?

Select the clip we want to throw away, so it's not highlighted, and then click backspace or delete on the keyboard.

How do you add new sequences?

Select the video clip, drag and drop it on NEW ITEM BUTTON (Sticky Tab) and it should create a new sequence on the timeline. The other way to do this is to click on the sticky note tab and choose new sequence to set everything up, name it, etc.

Somewhere between 5000 and 6000 hz.

Where do we go to add motion?

The Effects Control Panel. Then, key frame. To do this, you have to select the stopwatch next to whatever you want to add motion to such as opacity, etc. Between key frames, it will tell what's on screen to go from one place to the next.

What does the CURVES option allow you to do in Premiere?

The RBG curves will allow you to control exposure and contrast in your image. Clicking on the graph and dragging down will decrease exposure, while going the opposite way and pushing up will increase exposure.

What is the Ripple Edit Tool?

The Ripple Edit Tool is accessed using keyboard shortcut B. It works and will turn yellow when we hover at the end of a clip or at the beginning of a clip. It works as a ONE STEP RIPPLE DELETE. Speeds up the workflow because we can make a trim and everything behind the trim will automatically move downstream. It will also work the same way if we trim at the beginning of a clip. All clips will automatically jump to the right or left depending on which way we are going. ONE OTHER WAY WE CAN ACCESS IT IS BY DOING SHIFT CONTROL AS WE HOVER TOWARD THE BEGINNING OR ENDING OF A CLIP.

Out of the four tools mentioned, which are the most critical two to know?

The Rolling Edit and the Ripple Edit are the most important of the four.

The Slide Tool will allow you to move a clip that's sandwiched in between two clips to the left or right, while shortening the one to the left or right depending on which way it's dragged, but it does not change the clip in the middle in any way shape or form.

Use the pen tool by selecting shortcut key P for pen tool and add four points to the timeline. Then drag it down. Those key points will act as anchor points, decreasing the audio in that specific section. This is also a way that we can create a custom transition between tracks.

How do we import footage?

We can double click in the project panel, go to file and click import, or click control I on PC. We can then import our folders or clips.

Once we have deleted clips from the timeline after cutting them, how do we move everything back downstream?

We can lasso and drag. Or you can click in the vacant space between clips. Everything should be highlighted when you do this and then click delete, which will join all of the clips back together. You can also click between the clips, right click and choose RIPPLE DELETE. Alternatively, you could also use the RIPPLE EDIT TOOL.

What does Faded Film Look do in the Creative Menu?

We can use this to make an image look less saturated and contrasty.

What this means is the videos, the previews, the renders. When we add it effects, this is where it is saved, so always choose same as project.

Open up Essential Sound. Find Loudness option. Then, select auto match and it will match it up the audio loudness.

When do we want to use the audio track mixer in Premiere Pro?

When we are dealing with different sound elements such as music, dialogue, sound effects, ambience, etc. It's also a great way to edit everything on an audio track all at once.

How do we sync footage on the timeline?

When we have more than one camera with more than one audio channel, we can match them up by simply doing the following: 1. Double click to left of timeline on Audio Track and expand to see the wave forms for the audio. Check to ensure the wave forms match up and if they don't, then nudge them by simply pressing ALT and using the left and right arrow keys to move to where you need them. Alternatively, you can simple shift select both audio clips, right click, select synchronize in the pop up menu, MIX DOWN, select audio and click OK.

You can lock the decibel level while making adjustments with the pen tool by holding shift down.

You can right click to switch from Linear to other more natural looking effects for movement such as Bezier, etc.

How do we change the scale of a photo?

You can select the photo by clicking it on timeline. Then, going to Effect Controls and resizing by moving on the scale. OR you can double click on the photo in the program monitor and stretch to resize. If you hover outside of the square border, you will see a curved arrow that will allow you to tilt left or right depending on which way you want to go with it.

How do I export a high quality small size video?

You can start by setting an in and an out point on your timeline, so only what you want exported will be exported. Then, go up to FILE and EXPORT MEDIA. Or just go CONTROL M. H.264 AND YOUTUBE 1080P HD. Click on OUTPUT NAME TO NAME IT AND DECIDE WHERE TO SAVE IT. Bit Rate: Choose VBR2 Pass. Check the boxes, render at maximum quality and check render at maximum depth. This will make the colors look better and it will make the video look sharper, too. Target bit rate, leave at 16. That's a good bit rate for 1920x1080 videos. Finally, click EXPORT.

What is a good way to match up?

It removes as much of the high frequencies as you want and it only allows the high frequencies to play. Access this by going to EFFECT CONTROLS. You need to look for highpass and look at frequency number. Adjust as necessary.

What will adding too much sharpness do?

It will add grain to an image or artifacts rather. Remember that it makes in focus stuff a little more sharp. It does not bring things out of focus in focus.

What does Sharpness do?

It will sharpen the edges of things in your image. Great for interviews to add a little bit of sharpness to people's eyes or mouths. This is especially helpful when using a camera with a very shallow depth of field. 25 on Sharpness is a good place to park it.

What is Constant Gain?

It's a fade that works by increasing or decreasing audio at a constant rate, and isn't used often because it can sometimes sound abrupt.

What is the Parametric Equalizer?

It's a tool that allows you to clean up your audio. Gives you maximum control over tonal equalization.

What is the Vignette Panel?

It's an effect that darkens the edge of the frame in your footage. They help draw the viewer's eye to a specific focal point, evoke nostalgia, or offer a backdrop where you can place your titles.

What is a sequence?

It's an individual video timeline. Typically, a single video is edited on a single sequence.

What are transitions?

It's how clips go from one to the next.

What do Color Wheels do?

It's just another way to increase the exposure, decrease the exposure, etc.

What is the source monitor?

It's the screen on the top left where we preview our clips and cut them up as well.
