Two goals of management, per Taylor

1. To secure maximum prosperity for the employer 2. To secure maximum prosperity for each employee

Employee maximum prosperity

To secure higher wages for each employee, and to have each employee working at maximum efficiency.

Employer maximum prosperity

To secure large profits for the owner and the company, as well as the development of each branch to its highest state of excellence.

Soldiering

When limitations are purposely imposed on the production process by workers. It is "under working" or deliberately working slowly so as to avoid doing a full day's work. In this way, workers take back some power.

Scientific management

Taylor's method to analyze the production process using "motion and time" studies to break process down into several efficient steps. The best sequence of methods becomes the "standard" and taught first to the foremen, who in turn teaches it to each worker.
