End of Davidic Covenant

if the people obey, they receive an indirect blessing of sonship; eventually there will be a perfect Son of David and Son of God who will make divine son-ship available for everyone

David's Political Successes

means what he did for Israel as a nation; united the twelve tribes of Israel into one nation an he established Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and it remains the greatest city to this day

David's liturgical successes

means what he did for worship brought the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem because he wanted Jerusalem to be the heart of the nation; he also introduced music and singing into worship for the first time as he wrote psalms which referred to his sufferings and prophecies of Jesus's sufferings

David's eschatologically successes

means what he did that symbolized for the future of God's people; David foreshadowed Jesus Christ; Like Jesus, David is the "anointed one", covered with God's spirit; he was also a suffering king like Jesus for he was persecuted by his father-in-law and was later forced out of office by his son

how the Davidic covenant is a renewal of what the Israelites rejected when they were with Moses in the desert

the sonship Israel rejected is now given to David and his sons
