Order of Operations
The order of the steps you go through to solve an algebraic expression.
20 - 6 + 8 =
You have minus and plus here. Take this in order from left to right. Subtract first. Then add last. Your answer is 22.
30 - 5 x 2 =
You have minus and times here. You will do the times first. 5 X 2 = 10 30 - 10 = 20 Your answer is 20.
11 + 5 -2 -1 =
You have plus and minus here. Take this in order from left to right. Add first. Then, do your subtracting. Your answer is 13.
25 + 5 x 3 =
You have plus and times here. You will do the times first. 5 x 3 = 15 25 + 15 = 40 Your answer is 40.
6 + 7 x 9 -5 =
You have plus, times, and minus here. You will do the times first. 7 x 9 = 63 Then, 6 + 63 = 69. Finish the problem across. 69 - 5 = 64 Your answer is 64.
8 x 5 + 6 x 3 =
You have times and plus here. You will do 8 x 5 first which is 40. Then, continue. 40 + 6 x 3 = Then do 6 x 3 which equals 18. Then, add 40 + 18 = 58. Your final answer is 58.
5 x 8 + 4 / 2 =
You have times, plus, and divide here. You will do 5 x 8 = 40 first. Then, 40 + 4 / 2 = You will do 4 /2 = 2 next. Then, add last. 40 + 2 = 42. 42 is your final answer.
