Themes in Literature
Theme - acceptance
Character shows respect for other's beliefs, differences, and ways of life.
Theme - Greed
Characters are greedy and taking more of something than they need.
Theme - generosity
Characters are rewarded for giving of their time and talents to others.
Theme - Respectfulness
Characters learn a lesson about respecting other people and/or the environment.
Theme - self confidence
Characters learn that they are more likely to accomplish great things when they believe in themselves.
Theme - preparedness
Characters learn that they should be prepared for difficult situations.
Theme - attentiveness
Characters run into trouble for being distracted and forgetful.
Theme
The lesson or message the author is trying to say in a story. It is not written word for word in the story; the reader must figure it out. The reader may pay attention to how a character changes throughout a story to figure out the theme.
Theme - resourcefulness
The character finds clever ways to get out of difficult situations.
Theme - courage
The character is brave, takes a risk, or overcomes a fear.
Theme - kindness
The character is friendly, compassionate, generous and thoughtful towards others.
Theme - cooperation
The characters work together to complete something, overcome an obstacle, or complete a goal.
