Again, seeing the story typologically, we see Jesus as the new adam who was able to overcome sin to which adam submitted. What was it?
The sin of adam was wanting to be god. Jesus resists this offer from the devil, who while he offers the possibility of being god, cannot deliver on the promise.

The twelve apostles correspond to the twelve tribes of Israel. These twelve would be the new leaders of the new Israel: Jesus' Chrurch
When John appeared telling people that the kingdom of god is at hand, what did many of them think he meant by this?
They were expecting a messiah who would overturn the current corrupt government and then run it himself in a righteous way.
It would appear they the money changers were simply providing a necessary service. What was wrong with what they were doing?
