ASP.NET

(Active Server Pages for .NET)—A set of .NET classes used to create Web-based, client-side (Web Form) and server-side (Web Service) applications. ASP.NET was derived from the Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP) Web technology and adapted for use in the .NET Framework. Also called managed ASP and formerly known as ASP+.

Cookie

A small text file that a web server may store on a user's computer for the purpose of uniquely identifying the user during future visits to the website.

Ajax

Ajax is a group of interrelated Web development techniques used on the client-side to create asynchronous Web applications. With Ajax, web applications can send data to and retrieve from a server asynchronously (in the background) without interfering with the display and behavior of the existing page. Data can be retrieved using the XMLHttpRequest object. Despite the name, the use of XML is not required (JSON is often used in the AJAJ variant), and the requests do not need to be asynchronous.

JSON

JavaScript Object Notation is an open standard format that uses human-readable text to transmit data objects consisting of attribute-value pairs. It is the primary data format used for asynchronous browser/server communication (AJAJ), largely replacing XML (used by AJAX).

MVC

Model-view-controller (MVC) is a software architectural pattern for implementing user interfaces. It divides a given software application into three interconnected parts, so as to separate internal representations of information from the ways that information is presented to or accepted from the user.

PHP

PHP is a server-side scripting language designed for web development but also used as a general-purpose programming language. While PHP originally stood for Personal Home Page, it now stands for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor, which is a recursive backronym.

Cache

Pronounced as cash. In web terms, a cache is a storage space where the copies of web pages and other web resources such as images are stored. In general computer terms, a cache is also used for storage where it can be either a section of main memory that is reserved or an independent high-speed storage device.

Razor

Razor is an ASP.NET programming syntax used to create dynamic web pages with the C# or Visual Basic .NET programming languages.

ADO

Stands for ActiveX Data Object. ADO is a technology developed by Microsoft that provides access to any kind of data source.

jQuery

jQuery is a cross-platform JavaScript library designed to simplify the client-side scripting of HTML. jQuery is the most popular JavaScript library in use today, with installation on 65% of the top 10 million highest-trafficked sites on the Web. jQuery is free, open-source software licensed under the MIT License.
