Accommodations are
Simple changes to the way things are being taught in the classroom to help the child succeed.
The IEP is based on
an assessment of the student's strengths and needs that affect the student's ability to learn and demonstrate learning.
Modifications are
changes to what the child is expected to learn and demonstrate.
An example of an accommodation is
Where a child sits in the classroom.
An example of a modification is
shorter, easier reading assignments
