Find & replace

Changing a bit more than Ctrl-C, but still retaining the essential content of the source. Again, the source is not credited and/or the quoted portions are not put in quotation marks, thus claiming the wording and/or ideas as the author's own. This is NOT the proper way to paraphrase.

Hybrid

Combines properly cited material with plagiarized material in an effort to persuade the reader that all material must thus be properly cited, even though it isn't.

CTRL-C

Contains most of the wording of the original source, with a few words or phrases rearranged. Source is not given credit original words are not placed in quotations. meaning that the author is claiming the wording as his or her own when it is not. This is NOT the proper way to paraphrase. A true paraphrase must be communicated completely in your own words, style, and voice, such that it does not resemble the original material in any way except for factual accuracy.

Clone

Submitting word-for-word copy of anothers work, without goving credit to the source, thus claiming someone elses words as ones own

Aggregator

Work contains properly cited material but little or none of the author's own words. This amounts to a list of paraphrases and/or quotes. The problem arises because the author claims credit for writing this essay even though little to no words of the author's own appear in the work. This is why this is plagiarism. Supplying the reader with nothing more than paraphrases and quotes is not your work, it's simply a list of other people's resource authors own words.

Recycle

borrowing from your own previous work (from previous assignments or from work done for other classes) without telling the reader where the original work came from. You must ask your instructor in advance if they would allow you to reuse work from another assignment. Many teachers don't. Even when they do, you must clearly indicate what portion of the work came from a previous assignment, when it was originally written, and for what class it was originally written.

404 error

includes sources that don't exist or are inaccurate; misrepresentation of source. This is fraudulent and dishonest.

Remix

paraphrases from multiple sources, made to fit together; original sources not credited

Retweet

paraphrases that include proper citation but rely too heavily on the sources original wording and/or structure. The difference between this and Ctrl-C is that a retweet credits the source. Crediting the source of a paraphrase without properly paraphrasing the original wording is still plagiarism. Giving credit while stealing someone else's wording does not absolve you of the crime.
