phenomenon where patents undergoing clinical therapy begin to transfer their feelings of a particular person in their lives to the therapist.

ex) client begins to talk to therapist as if they are their boyfriend while expressing their feelings to therapist and calls therapist boyfriend's name.

ex) therapists asks client questions about their mother and client gets upset. therapist finds out its bc the client's mother abused them as a child.
free association
technique of having client say anything that comes to mind, regardless of how embarrassing or unimportant it may seem.
