Compound Examples

Compound-Complex Examples

Simple Sentence
A sentence consisting of one independent clause and no dependent clause Ex: The dog barks.
Complex Sentence
A sentence with one independent clause and at least one dependent clause Ex: Because the soup was too cold, I warmed it in the microwave.
Compound-Complex Sentence
Two independent clauses and one or more dependent clauses Ex: Though Michael likes watching comedies, he rented the latest spy thriller, and he enjoyed it very much.
Compound Sentence
Two or more independent clauses, separated by a semicolon or a comma & conjunction Ex: The pirate captain lost the treasure map, but he still found the buried treasure.
