Pancreas

It is part of the digestive system and produces important enzymes and hormones that help break down foods. It has an endocrine function because it releases juices directly into the bloodstream, and it has an exocrine function because it releases juices into ducts.

Heart

Key organ in the circulatory system. Propels blood throughout the body.

Skin

Protects us from disease/bacteria; helps regulate body temperature; allows us to touch, feel heat, and feel cold.

Brain

Receives information from the rest of the body and interprets that information. Control center.

Kidneys

Extract waste from blood, balance body fluids, and form urine.

Liver

Filters blood coming from the digestive tract before passing it to the rest of the body. Secretes bile that ends up back in the intestines.

Large Intestine

The last part of the digestive tract. It extracts water and salt from solid wastes before they are eliminated from the body.

Stomach

A muscle that breaks down food and extracts necessary nutrients the body needs. Mixes and churns the food with acid.

Small Intestine

Absorbs most of the nutrients from what we eat and drink.

Lungs

Allows you to take in oxygen from the air and help remove carbon dioxide.

Bladder

An expandable sac that contracts with inner folds when it is empty. Holds urine.
