Internal iliac arteries

MEDIAL terminal branches off common iliac arteries -Travel posteriorly until they divide in the pelvis

Anterior tibial artery

Travels to anterior surface of leg; descends to ankles where it becomes the dorsals pedis artery

External iliac arteries

LARGER terminal branch of common iliac arteries -Become FEMORAL ARTERY as it enters the thigh

Right & left common iliac arteries

Begin at the division of the abdominal aorta -Divide into: 1.) Internal iliac arteries 2.) External iliac arteries

Fibular (peroneal) artery

Branches off the posterior tibial artery & travels down LATERAL side of leg to the foot.

Popliteal artery

CONTINUATION of femoral artery; begins in POPLITEAL REGION -Ends in upper leg where it divides into: 1.) Anterior tibial artery 2.) Posterior tibial artery

Dorsal pedis artery (dorsal artery of the foot)

Continuation of the anterior tibial artery; begins in ANKLES & forms BRANCHES within the foot.

Femoral artery

Descends along middle of anterior 2/3 of thigh -Travels to POSTERIOR thigh, becoming the POPLITEAL artery as it enters the posterior knee area.

Posterior tibial artery

Descends along posterior aspect of leg & terminates at the ANKLE where it divides into: 1.) Medial plantar artery 2.) Lateral plantar artery
