Genital herpes is a common, chronic STI caused by herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2) majority of genital herpes is caused by HSV-2. Individuals *diagnosed with chlamydia should be rescreened in 3 months after completion of prescribed therapies because there is a high risk for reinfection*.
