Hello everyone, I'm Carlo Allan Laynes, and I am here to discuss our third argument: Life threatening ethical dilemmas concerning the decision-making of autonomous vehicles in critical situations.

In 2018, an Uber self-driving car accident in Tempe, Arizona, faced a scenario where split-second decision were required to ensure the safety of both the passenger and the pedestrian. Unfortunately, this led to a tragic pedestrian fatality.

In a study by Awad et al. 2018, cultural variations present a significant hurdle in programming ethical decisions for these vehicles. The existence of different cultural values makes uniform decision-making a complicated task.
