Bias
Bias is when you feel a certain way about certain things.
Counter-Argument/Rebuttal
Counter-Argument/Rebuttal is when the authors information in the passage is presenting a debatable issue. Usually used to argue and persuade the reader to agree and accept the authors viewpoint.
Premise/Support/Conclusion
Premise/Support/Conclusion is when the author provides either a statement or proposition by supporting evidence that is followed by a logical conclusion. Mostly always used to either argue it persuade.
Opinion
The viewpoint of a person over an issue
Persuade
To persuade is when the author writes to change the readers opinion to think what they want them to think.
Structure
A structure is how the article is organized/ how it is structured.
Cause-Effect
Cause and Effect is when the passage contains information that is being explained by the cause and then the results are the effects. It is usually used to inform but it can also be used to persuade the reader.
Compare and Contrast
Compare and Contrast has information in the passage which contains various elements either being compared, contrasted or compared and contrasted. Used to inform and to entertain as well.
Definition and Example
Definition and example is usually including a definition and then it is followed by examples to support the definition. Used to inform the reader or it can instruct new concepts to the reader.
List or Classification
List or Classification is when the information supports the main idea and it is either in a specific order or or categories. It is usually used to inform but it could be also used to persuade.
Loaded Language/ Words
Loaded language/words are words that are powerful, phrase that reveal the authors viewpoint.
Narrative/Anecdotal
Narrative/Anecdotal is a short story that involves characters, dialogue, a conflict etc. Usually mostly used to either.
Problem-Solution
Problem and Solution is when passages information is talking about the problem and then talks about the the possible solutions. It is used for both informing the audience and persuading.
Authors Intent
The authors intent is the author's purpose for writing the text or the interpretation.
Authors Purpose
The authors purpose is why the author is writing the article. The authors purposes are to persuade, inform and entertain.
Entertain
To entertain is when the author writes to illustrate a theme but they don't give any information they just keep the reader busy.
Inform
To inform is when the author writes over a topic and has informational facts that the reader could use
