Suggest why parathion is broken down more rapidly by the isolated enzyme than by a soil bacterium containing the same enzyme. (1)

Adult toads spend most of their time on land but lay their eggs in water. These eggs hatch into tadpoles, which live in water and develop into adults. The tadpoles are much smaller than adult toads. Fire-ants are a serious pest in parts of the USA. An investigation was carried out to find the best way to control the fire-ant population. The graph shows the results of this investigation. Describe the effect of using insecticide followed by biological control. (2)

The scientists looked at previous studies on the effects of various pesticides on tadpoles.
