Containment/Domino Theory

A theory prominent from the 1950s to the 1980s, that speculated that if one country in a region came under the influence of communism, then the surrounding countries would follow in a domino effect. An aid in which reinforcements were scattered the end of the Second World War. U.S., British, and Soviet military forces divided and occupied Germany. Also divided into occupation zones, Berlin was located far inside Soviet-controlled eastern Germany

An obsession for building weapons about which President Eisenhower issued a stern caution.
