If an ion contains 10 electrons ,12 protons, and 13 neutrons what is the irons charge
B- 1-
How many neutrons does iron-59 have
B- 33
J.J Thomas experimental setup is shown below
B- They are atractted to the positive plate
Infer why isn't mass number listed with each element on the periodic table
Because the weight average is counted by an individual isotope
Contrast how does bohr model of the atom differ from the present day atomic model
Bohr's showed that electrons moved in an orbit circular way and now the electrons are found to be closer to the nucleus but till orbiting it
Which part of an atom makes up most of the volume ?
C- Its nucleus
The figure below shows which of the following
C-two diffrent ions
How is bohrs atomic model diffrent from rutherfords model
D-Electrons in Bohr model are located farther from the nucleus
Explain how is the average atomic mass calculated
Divide each percentage by 100 to change to a decimal form.Multiply the mass of each isotope by its decimal percentage.Add the values together to get the average atomic mass
Summarize the large hardon collider shown below is continuing the study of matter and energy .Use set of four drawing to summarize how the model of the atom changed from thomas to rutherfords to bohr to a modern model
do a drawing
What did Democritus believe an atom was ?
A- A solid object indivisible object
Why were Rutherford students surprised by the results of the gold foil experiment
A- They didn't expect the alpha particles to continue in a straight path
Which determines the identity of an element
A- its mass number
Describe the current model of the atom .Explain the size of atoms. Also explain the charge ,the location, and the size of protons neutrons and electrons
It has a nucleus in which is made up of protons (positive charged) and the electrons (negative charged) .The electrons are closed to the nucleus orbiting it.Atoms are really small not visible for a humans eyes.An atom is in every thing that has mass (matter). The protons and the electrons are the same size since if there is 5 protons there are 5 electrons they are small but you might think the protons are bigger since they are closed together in the nucleus.
Describe the electron cloud using your own analogy
It is a cloud that is negatively charged that surrounds the nucleus
Oxygen has three stable isotopes. What can you determine about the average atomic mass of oxygen without calculating it
It will be about 16
Consider what would have happened in the gold foil empiriment if daltons theory had been correct
The alpha particles would have not been reflect they would have immediately bounce in different directions
Hypothesize what might happen if a negatively charged ion comes into contact with a positivley charged ion
They will attract each other since they have opposite energies and that will create ionic bond
Summarize how radioactive decay can produce new elements
When it converts from neutron to proton
Write a newspaper article that describes how the change in the atomic model provide and example of the scientific process action
process of the creation of the atomic model
