Put gloves on; Cover wound with dressing and press firmly against wound with gloved hand; Apply pressure bandage over dressing to maintain pressure; If blood soaks through change dressing; If gets out of hand maybe apply a tourniquet or hemostatic dressing; Monitor persons condition; Observe signs of shock; Take steps to minimize shock; Have them rest comfortably until EMS arrive; Wash hands with soap and after giving care even if you had gloves on
