Cleaning Microscope
STEP 8
-using a new piece of lens paper, dab a small amount of isopropyl alcohol, distilled water, or other approved lens cleaning solution on the 100x objective -clean in a circular motion -repeat with a dry piece of lens paper until you confirm that the objective lens is dry
STEP 12
cover the microscope and put it away. if moving the microscope, be sure to hold the arm/neck with one hand while supporting the base with your other hand
STEP 4
drop the stage all the way down using the coarse focus knob
STEP 9
remove the 100x objective lens and give it to your instructor
STEP 5
remove your microscope slide from the stage. throw in the sharps container or store it in a slide box if you plan on looking at it again later. do not wipe the oil off of the slide
STEP 3
rotate the nosepiece to the 4x objective. pay very special attention as to which way you are turning the nosepiece so you don't drag the 40x through the oil
STEP 13
sign out your microscope on the microscope log have your instructor initial the log as well, verifying that you properly put it away

turn the light control all the way down
STEP 2
turn the microscope off
STEP 6
using a dry piece of lens paper, wipe the 40x objective first in a circular motion.
STEP 7
using the same piece of lens paper, wipe the 100x objective next in a circular motion use multiple spots on the lens paper until no more oil marks are being left by the objective
STEP 10
wipe off all glass parts with dry lens paper
STEP 11
wipe off the rest of the microscope using kimwipe and isopropyl alcohol
