Write 62.5% as a decimal.

625/100 This is because 625/100 = 62.5 (move the decimal two places to the left)

Convert 1/8 to a decimal and to percent. (Tip: do decimal division for 1 divided by 8, then multiply the decimal by 100 to get the percent)

0.125 = 12.5%

Convert 1/5 to a decimal Tip: do decimal division by doing 1 divided 5. Your quotient should be less than one whole).

0.20 or 0.2 simplified

Rewrite 3/4 as a decimal and percent.

0.75 = 75%

In the fraction 1/5, which is the dividend and which is the divisor? In other words, which number goes inside the house and which number goes outside the house?

1 is the dividend (inside the house) 5 is the divisor (outside the house)

What is the denominator for rewriting every percent as a common fraction?

100 is the denominator when converting percents to a common fraction because percents are out of 100. Example: 35% = 35/100

Convert 25% as a common fraction and reduced fraction.

25/100 = 1/4

Convert 85% to a reduced fraction. Tip: first write the common fraction for 85%, then reduce.

85/100 = 17/20

Convert 20% to a decimal and reduced fraction.

Decimal: 0.2 or 0.20 Fraction: 20/100 = 1/5

Convert 6% as a fraction and a decimal.

Fraction: 6/100 OR 3/50 Decimal: 0.06 Six has to be in the hundredths place

If you know that 1/8 is 0.125, how can you use multiplication only to find what 3/8 is as decimal.

I can find 3/8 by multiplying the decimal for one-eighth by three 0.125 x 3 = 0.375

How do you know if a fraction is equivalent to 50% ?

If the common fraction of the percent can be simplified to 1/2. Example: 50% = 50/100 = 1/2

What are 2 steps for converting a fraction into a decimal? Example: 1/4

Step 1: Divide the numerator and the denominator to get it's decimal equivalent. Step 2: Multiply the decimal by 100 because percents are out of 100. 1/ 4 = 0.25 x 100 = 25% 1/4 = 25%

When DIVIDING by a power of 10, in which direction do you move the decimal? Example: 5.5 divided by 100

To the left because the place of each digit will decrease 5.5 divided by 100 = 0.055

When MULTIPLYING by a power of 10, in which direction do you move the decimal? Example: 5.5 x 1000

To the right; the place value of each digit increases 5.5 x 1000 = 5,500
