Define attitude

An attitude is a feeling or belief about something. Positive attitudes will help exercise adherence.

Caloric Expenditure

At a minimum (threshold), you should expend at least 200 calories a day in physical activity. This would amount to 1,000 to 1,400 calories each week based on 5 to 7 active days a week

lifestyle physical activities

Lifestyle Physical Activities include activities like Housework vacuuming, and cleaning. It also can be Yard work, raking the leaves, mowing the lawn, or shoveling snow. And finally, walking the dog

Lifetime physical activities

Lifetime Physical Activities include sports like golf, tennis, and racquetball. These sports can be started when young, and continued for life.

MET

One MET refers to how much energy you use while resting. The word MET comes from the word metabolism. The word metabolism refers to the use of energy to sustain life.

Pedometer

Pedometers count the number of steps people take. They are used to monitor how much walking a person does over the course of a day. They can count running also but are more accurate for walking.

Forming Attitudes

People form attitudes from their own personal experiences or from the influences of the people around them. Positive experiences lead to positive attitudes; negative experiences lead to negative attitudes

Building a positive attitude toward physical activity?

Steps to build a positive attitude: Use positive self-talk. Use short-term and long-term goal setting. Speak to others about the benefits of physical activity. Have the courage to begin an exercise program. Focus on rewarding experiences you have had in physical activity.
