Words often used as adverbs
Where - away, here, inside, there, up When - later, now, soon, then, tomorrow How - clearly, easily, quietly, slowly How often - always, usually, continuously, never, forever, briefly How much - almost, so, too, more, least, extremely, quite, very, not
Adverb answers the following questions.
Where? When? How? How Often or how long? To what extent? or How much?
Linking Verbs
a verb that expresses a state of being. Linking verbs connects, or links, the subject to a word or word group that identifies or describes the subject
Action Verb
a verb that expresses either physical or mental activity. Example - plays, thought, believe
Verb
a ward that expresses action or a state of being.
Adverb
a word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb
Commonly Used Helping Verbs
am, are, be, been, being, is, was, were, do, does, did, have, has, had, can, could, may, might, must will, would, shall, should
Linking Verb Examples
