Flat bone: Hip bone

Located: bellow the ilium & behind the pubis Function: main connection between the leg and the skeletal structure of the trunk and pelvis.

Flat bone: Frontal

Located: bowl shaped bone in the forehead. Function: protect brain, maintain structure of face, bone in the front.

Flat bone: Sternum

Located: center of the chest. Function: connects ribs to cartilage.

Flat bone: Scapula

Located: in between the humerus and collarbone Function: attach the upper arm to the thorax or trunk of the body

Flat bone: Pelvis

Located: lower part of the trunk of the human body between the abdomen & the thighs. Function: provides location for the large muscles of the lower body to connect, & supports and protects reproductive organs, bladder, & rectum.

Located: midsagittal line Function: divides the nostrils

Flat Bone: Cranium

Located: on top of the body Function: protection of the brain, fixing the distance between eyes to allow stereoscopic vision, & the position of the ears to enable sound localisation of the direction & distance of sounds.

Flat bone: Lacrimal

Located: the front part of the medial wall of the orbit. Function: lacrimation or crying.

Located: upper-middle area of the face, between the maxillary bones frontal process Function: to bind together the cartilage that forms individual nose contours and shapes.

Located: Under the neck. Function: protects vital organs, such as the heart and lungs.

Located: at the top and sides of the cranium, extending around the back of the head. Function: posterior roof of the skull, provide mechanical protection of the brain.

Located: back & lower part of the skull. Function: houses the back part of the brain.
