Which of the following sentences is an example of an AC from this paragraph? Although imperfect, Buddy's friend is the only adult who cares for him. "We eat our supper (cold biscuits, bacon, blackberry jam) and discuss tomorrow" (Capote 234). Clearly, the adults in Buddy's life don't even seem to provide basic necessities, such as dinner. While a cold biscuit might not be much to have for dinner, at least Buddy's friend manages to find something to keep them from starvation. "Enter: two relatives. Very angry. Potent with eyes that scold, tongues that scald" (240). Because Buddy's only memories of the other adults is negative, this example clearly demonstrates their lack of love and care. If it wasn't for Buddy's friend, he would have grown up thinking no adult cared for him. Surely, the care Buddy's friend provides covers over any mild sins.
Clearly, the adults in Buddy's life don't even seem to provide basic necessities, such as dinner .

In the following paragraph, what is the topic sentence? In "The Ballad of the Harp Weaver" by Edna St. Vincent Millay, the mother was lovingly devoted to her son. Because the mother and son did not have much money, they struggled to stay warm during the fall and winter. To stay warm, they burned up all the chairs that they were able to break. Breaking up the chairs was probably difficult work for the mother since she is described as having thin fingers. Without food to nourish them, she likely wasn't very strong. Even though she was weak, she was able to pick up her son and hold him on her lap to comfort him and to keep him warm. Of all the things this mother did for her son, the greatest act of all was to literally die taking care of him. She stayed up all night to make him clothes and when the son woke up the next morning, he found his mother dead. When we consider the works of this self - sacrificing mother, it is easy to understand what prompted the son to write a ballad in her honor.
