Fire Safety Procedure if you find the fire
- Assess the danger prior to do anything - If it is safe to move to assist anyone in the vicinity of the fire away from danger. - If it is possible close the door to the fire area. - Call for assistance. Verbally call FIRE, FIRE, in a loud and clear voice. - Break the glass section of the fire alert call point. -Call to the switch; ensure you know where the fire is, any other details that may be assistance to the fire brigade. - It is safe to do so, attack the fire with the correct extinguisher or fire hose.
If the designated fire officer is not present, someone quickly needs to take responsibility and:
- Locate the source of the fire. - Locate any people. - Remove all from the building. - Once outside do a head count? - Notify the authorities
What are the General Safety Guidelines?
1. Remove your watch or any other jewlry and secure loose clothing. 2. Turn off the power and unplug equipment before opening the case and performing service. 3. Cover any sharp edges inside the computer case with tape. 4. Never open a power supply or a monitor. 5. Do not touch areas in printer that are hot or those which use high voltage. 6. Know where the fire extinguisher is located and learn how to use it. 7. Know where the first aid kit is located. 8. Keep food and drinks out of your workplace. 9. Keep your workspace clean and free of clutter. 10. Lift heavy objects with study leg support to avoid back injury.
