Toxic (Skull)
Chemicals are extremely toxic.
Irritant (Medical Looking Glove)
Chemicals can irritate skin. Wear gloves.
Fumes (Pipe with Smoke Coming Out)
Chemicals emit fumes. Handle under fume hood.
Chemicals (Bottle Pouring Out Liquid)
Harmful chemicals being used. Always wash hands at end of lab. If chemicals contacts skin rinse thoroughly.
Extreme Temperature (Oven Mitt)
Objects are either too hot or too cold. Use protection (hot hand, pot holders, tongs, etc.)
Sharp Object (Hand Pointing)
Objects are sharp and can easily cut skin. Use extra caution when handling.
Open Flame (Crossed Out Fire)
Open flame used during lab (burners). Tie back hair. Do not wear loose clothing.
Radioactivity (Radioactive Symbol)
Radioactive materials used during lab.
Disposal (Crossed Out Trash Can)
Special disposal of chemical is needed. Do not dispose down the drain or in the trash. Read lab handout.
Clothing Protections (Apron)
Substances could stain or ruin clothing.
Electrical (Plug With Three Prongs)
Using electrical equipment. Be careful with using liquids around this equipment.
Wash Hands (Hand Under Sink)
Wash hands at the end of lab with soap and water.
Eye Safety (Goggles)
Wear safety goggles at all times.
