Robert

- Acted as the pig in the fake "hunt" and was hurt by the boys with sticks. - He guarded castle rock.

Piggy

- Fat, has asthma, not athletic, wears glasses • Ralph's lieutenant • Makes a makeshift sundial for the boys to tell time • Represents the rational, scientific side of civilization • The intellectual - they use his specs to start fires, he talks a lot - was killed by Roger with a huge rock at castle rock.

Percevil

- He is mouse-colored - not attractive - miserable, - He had sand kicked in his face, - He tries to remember his personal info , and when he forgot, he kept crying., - He is getting quite insane,

- Questions Jack about killing the beast

Wilfred

- was beaten for no reason by Jack's tribe

Ralph

• 12 year-old English "fair boy", blonde • Knows when to talk & when not to • Elected leader of the group • Tries to build civilization on the island • Represents human beings' civilizing instinct as opposed to savageness - he thinks getting rescued is the most important thing.

Simon

• Faints a lot, straight black hair, small, A peacemaker of the group, Shy, sensitive boy • Naturally good - Is nice to the littluns & is willing to work for the good of the community • Represents Jesus • Only one to actually know that there is no "beastie" • Only person that the LOTF talks to - He stands up for Piggy, He has an "inner sight" that tells them there is no beast. He told Ralph not to stop being chief, and he told him that he (Ralph) would get home safely. He got killed by a mob at the feast.

Little Johnny

• First person to come when Piggy blows the conch in the very beginning (1st time) - about six years old. - - He was building sandcastles, and later followed Roger's example of kicking sand in Percival's eyes.

Samneric (Sam 'n Eric)

• Identical twins - "tow headed" (blondes) chunky and vibrant; everyone (especially Piggy) mixes up their names • Always together & often treated as one person • Part of the Bigguns • Fall victim to Jack's manipulation & are tortured badly by him • Had shifts to keep the fire/smoke going but let fire go out when ship came because they went hunting w/ Jack. - They did everything the same - The first ones to say they saw "the beast" on the mountain, but it was really the parachutist. They deny taking part in the killing and they stay with Ralph until they get captured by Jack at Castle Rock.

Roger

• Jack's lieutenant • Sadistic, cruel boy who seems nice but is evil (like Jack) on the inside • Tries to hit Henry but intentionally misses • Has a conscience which stops him from doing many bad things • The "shy" boy • Shoves the stick "up the sow's ass" - He was secretive - fertive, - suggested the vote for chief, He got more suspicious acting in later chapters - He kicked over sand castles and didn't care. -He joined Ralph and Jack to go up to the mountain to find the beast. joined Jack's tribe went with Jack to steal Piggy's glasses. He kills Piggy with a giant boulder. He becomes the torturer and executioner.

• One of Jack's hunters • Jack smears the blood of the first killed pig on his face • In the first chant, he pretends to be the pig while the others beat him * Second in size to Jack, - always grins * He ran away after kicking sand in Percival's face because he was worried about "an adult" still finding out. * He tries to change the subject of the fire going out by acting out the hunt

• Represents evil and Jack's power • Jack uses the fear of the beast as a way to earn the boy's respect and authority • The increasing savagery of the boys only increases their belief of the beast • Thought to be the pilot w/ the parachute by the other boys (except Simon)

Jack Merridew

• Tall, skinny, ugly red hair - Leader of the choir boys/hunters • Novel's antagonist • Longs for total power of all the boys • Shadow of Ralph • Becomes increasingly wild, barbaric & cruel • Likes to enforce rules (especially by violence) • Relies on his authoritative figure to justify events - he thinks the most important thing is to hunt,hes arrogant, cocky, has a knife, he starts his own tribe
