What are lysosomes?

A cell organelle that contains digestive enzymes. They are the *garbage disposal* of your cell; they are responsible for digesting and recycling materials that cell no longer needs or has to get rid of.

WHAT ARE enzymes?

A type of protein that speeds up metabolic reactions in plants and animal without permanently changed or destroyed.

How many enzymes are contained in a lysosomes?

About 40 different enzymes.

Where are Lysosomes located?

An organelle in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells containing degradative enzyme enclosed in a membrane.

Structure of lysosomes

Are like floating garbage bag that contains enzyme capable of digesting molecules. Their external membrane is a gateway that allows molecules inside the digestive enzyme to escape into the cell.

Where are they very common?

Very common in white blood cells where disease and sickness are fought so a lot of bacteria need to be digested.
