If scientific theories change, is this a strength or weakness of science?

Changing theories indicate our ability to understand more deeply. It is a strength because we create new and better technology that allow us to discover new things.

Develop and follow a procedure. Include a detailed materials list. Outcome must be measurable.

Science is proven through experiments. Religion is based on beliefs.

Science is a method of answering theoretical questions. Technology is a method of solving practical questions.

The scientific method is a way of gaining, organizing, and applying new knowledge. Through the scientific method, researchers define a problem, gather information, make a hypothesis, conduct an experiment, analyze the data, and form a conclusion. Through this process, scientists can test and retest hypotheses to deepen their understanding of how and why phenomena occur. Even when a hypothesis is disproven, the scientific method leads to greater understanding and the opportunity to explore a subject from another angle.

When findings are expressed in math, they are easier to verify or disprove by experiment.

Scientific theory is based on the conclusion of experimentation. A scientific theory is reached when many experiments come to the same conclusion. A hypothesis is an educated guess about what an experiment will prove. After the experiment, a hypothesis could be proven wrong. A scientific theory stands based on a long history of experiments in which the hypothesis was correct.

Why should citizens have a responsibility to have some basic understanding of nature's rules?

So that they will understand how things work and learn to be curious.

What does it mean that if a hypothesis is scientific, then it must be able to be proven or proven wrong?

A hypothesis is an educated guess that is measurable through an experiment. The experiment can prove or disprove what was guessed.

A synthesis of a large body of information that encompasses well-tested and verified hypotheses. An explanation based on the conclusion of much experimentation.

Modify the procedure. Confirm results by retesting. Include tables, graphs, and pictures.
