Breathing and pulse have slowed down and have gotten into a steady rhythm of breathing (in through the nose out through the mouth)
What can sleep deprivation cause?
A decrease and physical and mental functioning.
What is narcolepsy?
A sleep disorder in which an individual experiences sudden and unpredictable daytime attacks of sleepiness or lapses into REM sleep
What is sleep apnea?
A sleep disorder in which breathing briefly during sleep, causing the individual to choke and gasp and momentarily waken.
what occurs during stage 1 sleep?
Brain waves become irregular and the mind begins to drift to the edge of consciousness.
What occurs during stage 4 sleep?
Deep sleep, almost full relaxation
What is lucid dreaming?
Dreams in which the dreamer is aware of dreaming
What are the mental benefits of sleep?
Improves of memory
What occurs during stage 2 sleep?
Minor noises won't disturb you. Your brain is allowing you to get used to the current noises around you, new noises will cause wakefulness.

Pain management Stress Obesity Anger management etc.
What does REM stand for? And what occurs during REM sleep?
Rapid Eye Movement. Loss of muscle tone, lucid or vivid dreaming, increased eye movement. Sleep paralysis can also occur
What are the 5 stages of sleep
Stages 1-4, which are NREM (non-rem) Stage 5, which is REM sleep
Why do we sleep?
To eliminate waste products from muscles To repair cells To conserve or replenish energy To strengthen the immune system To recover abilities lost during the day
