index cards with an important question on the from and the answer on the back, involves writing out info, helps you rehearse material and commit it to long-term memory, concentrate on one small, manageable part, memorize key terms, review with study partner, allows you to test yourself
Review by Rehearsing the Answers to Your Question
know that to remember what they read in their textbooks and the answers they wrote to question, immediately after reading a section or a ch., rehearse important points, reading your questions and reciting the answers, read aloud, reciting or rewetting the material form memory (1) prepare to read by previewing, assessing/planning (2) ask & answer (3) review by rehearsing provides the foundations for effective test prep

How should I read notes?
