Things that result from hyperventilation
What is apnea?
Absence of breathing
Third thing that happens during hyperventilation
Blood vessels dilate causing BP to go down
First thing that results from hyperventilation
Does not increase o2 saturation but descreases co2 saturation
How do you reverse respiratory alkalosis
Put a bag over face to help co2 come back in and shift reactions back to right making blood relatively acidic again
Second thing that happens during hyperventilation
Reduction in Bohr effect which in turn causes you to hang on to o2 longer
What is the process called when you put more co2 out than o2 and causes the blood to become more alkaline?
Respiratory alkalosis
During hyperventilation what happens with o2 and co2
You're not putting more o2 out, you're putting more co2 out which causes the blood to become more alkaline
cheyene-stokes respiration
abnormal cycles, w/ an increasing rate/depth of respirations followed by apnea
death rattle
sound produced by air moving through mucus at time of death
