Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865): The 16th president of the United States, fight for the Union during the civil war.
* Biography: Abraham Lincoln was born in February 12th, 1809 in Hodgenville, KY. He was born into a family with moderate prosperity. His mother passed away when he was 9. The Lincoln was forced to move to Indiana due to a land dispute. This is when the family suffer from poverty. Lincoln only attended school for a year, but he read a lot of books by himself during his childhood, which shape his political ideas and ideology. * Influence: He was one of the biggest contributors to the preservation of the Union and the fight against the Confederate. As the president, he also vindicated democracy, and emancipated slaves through establishing "Emancipation Proclamation".
Jefferson Davis (1808-1889): A 19th century U.S Senator, President of the Confederate in the Civil War.
* Biography: Born on June 3rd, 1808 in Christian County, Kentucky, Jefferson Davis is one of 10 children of the Davis family. At 16 years old, he was appointed to a cadetship at the U.S military Academy in New York and eventually graduated 4 years later. He serve the military from 1828 to 1835. In 1847, thanks to his contribution to the Mexican-American war, he was appointed to be the U.S Senator of Mississippi. He was named President of the Confederated in 1861. * Influence: Jefferson plays an important role during the civil war, since he is the president of the Confederate throughout the war. He presided over the creation of the Southern army and its acquisition of weaponry. As a supporter of slavery, Jefferson also have a huge impact on the institution as well.
Franklin Pierce (1804-1869): The 14th U.S president.
* Biography: Born on November 23rd, 1804, during childhood, Franklin had a good education. At the age of 15, he was accepted to the Bowdoin College in Maine, where he is a highlighted individual thanks to his public speaking talent. At 20 years old, he graduated and 4 years later, he was elected to the New Hampshire Legislature. With the aid of his father who is already been elected as governor, Pierce was elected in the House two years later. After serving in the Mexican war, he was elected for president in 1852. * Influence: During his presidency, Pierce and the government had to face the debate over slavery. His biggest influence to the country is the signing of Kansas-Nebraska act, which push the country into the Civil War. He's also notable for the purchase of Gadsden, which expand the country to the South and West.
Frederick Douglass (1818-1895): the famous writer, abolitionist, fight for the emancipation of slavery.
* Biography: Frederick Douglass was born in February, 1818 into slavery in Talbot County, Maryland. Despite of the prohibition on slaves to get access to education, Douglass secretly learn how to read and write at 12. At the age of 20, Douglass escaped slavery by running to New York, where it is a free* state. * Influence : Douglass is one of the leader of the abolish movement As an activist, Douglas wrote the autobiography "Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass". By telling the story of his past live and lives of millions other slaves, Douglass have condemned the immoral nature of slavery to the public. His autobiography set the groundwork for the emancipation of slavery.
Ulysses S. Grant (1822-1885): Command of all U.S military in 1864, fight for the Union the 18th president of the United States.
* Biography: Grant was born in Point Pleasant, Ohio on April 27th, 1822. At the age of 17, he joined the United State Military Academy by the arrangement of his father. After graduation, Grant was shipped of for duty, participating in the Mexican war. He was promoted to captain in 1853 and resigned a year later. In 1861, the attack of the Confederate army on Fort Sumter sparkled Grants patriotism. He decided to return to the military. * Influence: In 1864, the ending phase of the war, Abraham Lincoln appointed Grant to be the major commander of all U.S military. Under his command, the Union army had won the civil war. He later on became the 18th president of the U.S.
Stonewall Jackson (1824-1863): The leading general of the Confederate army during the Civil War
Born on January 21st, 1824 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Jackson is the 3rd child in the family with 4 children. His father, a lawyer, passed away when he was just 2 years old. His mother later on married to a new man, Jackson and his siblings was sent to live with his uncle. After attending to a local school, Jackson participated in the U.S military academy in New York in 1842. In 1846, Jackson fought in the Mexican war as a Lieutenant and was seen as a war hero due to his bravery. He then became the general of the Confederate Army since the secession of Virginia. Influence: Thomas Jackson is a skilled military tacticians, who play the key role in the Confederate part. His commands are the major factor to of the Confederate victories in many battles. He was considered war hero and the pride of the Southern States.
